MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT:
I ask that you please fill out and email back the Shoreline Chapter Survey recently sent to you asking about best time structure for meetings; the topics that you would be interested in having presented, and several other questions important to the future of our Chapter. Please email your completed survey to Randy Broeckert at rbroeckert@mcleodusa.net. This is an important tool that the BOD will use to structure PDM’s to add the most value and to best meet the needs of or members and guests, now and in the future.
On the employment outlook, there is good news listed on the APICS home page where they are highlighting that the general and operations managers’ job category is predicted to be one of the ten fastest growing occupations for the period 2002 through 2012. Their information, which comes from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, indicates a growth of 18% during that period.
Last month we were treated to an excellent presentation from
Craig Magalen who told us of the trials and tribulations of setting up an
overseas manufacturing facility in
As I mention last month, our PDM for this month will be a special one with a tour of Plenco. A presentation will follow by one of our own members, and a Plenco Material team member, Colin Theobald. Please register early for this event, as the tour can only accommodate a maximum of 40 people. The dinner meeting following the tour will be at Klemmes Wagon Wheel in Howard’s Grove. I hope that many of your will join me on the 16th as this will be a very interesting and informative evening. Please see below for details regarding the tour.
This program year is well over half way through, and the BOD will soon begin the process of planning our 2005-2006 program year, at our transition meeting held on Saturday April 30th. It’s not too late to join the Board and play a part in making those decisions. If you’d like to attend a Board meeting to see what is involved, please contact any Board member. Upcoming meetings are on the 1st of March and 5th of April at LTC. Please consider joining us.
