MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT:
This past year has really flown by. It’s hard to believe that our upcoming meeting at Richard’s on the 21st of April will be the last for the season. It has been a very successful year overall for our Chapter, as we were able to offer some timely topics presented by some excellent presenters at our PDM’s, which were well attend for an organization of our size. Our CPIM training program overcame the challenge of changing locations and had excellent participation. We had a very interesting tour of Plenco; and we were fortunate to have had a very active Student Chapter this year. Thanks to all of you for your support of the Chapter and programs, and ask that you continue to provide us with feedback on how we can continually improve our programs to best meet your needs.
A big thank you goes out to Stacy Backhaus for arranging for the tour of Plenco last month. As I understand it, they rarely give tours, so it was truly an exceptional opportunity provided to us to visit the facility and view the resin being manufactured. Also, thank you to Collin Theobald (one of our members) who organized, and lead the tour. He also was our featured speaker at the PDM. Colin provided some thought provoking perspectives on JIT and the downsides to it.
Please make plans to attend our April PDM at Richard’s as we have an excellent speaker in Jon Bingol who brings to us a wealth of experience in many business environments. He will talk on “How to Increase the Bottom Line by 10% or more”. You can read more about Jon and his presentation in this newsletter in the section on the PDM.
Also our April PDM is special for several other reasons. It is Management night (with a very appropriate topic) as well as Awards Night. We will honor our members of the year and company of year as well as present scholarships to deserving students in the Supply Chain Management Program at LTC. So please join us for our season ending PDM and take advantage of one last opportunity to network with your peers; enjoy a great speaker on a very interesting topic; and congratulate our award winners. Please be sure to bring your managers!
One last note from Society, their web page has an article on
plans to roll out a new Certification Program called Certified Supply Chain
Professional (CSCP). Plans are to launch
the program in conjunction with the International Exposition in October at
It has been an honor and pleasure serving as your president this year and I look forward to doing it once again next year. I thank you all for your support and participation in our activities and programs, and hope that all have a healthy and happy summer. See you at Richard’s and again next fall!

Please come join us….
April 21st for the Professional
Development Meeting and Tour:
Speaker: Jon Bingol
Topic: "How to increase your bottom line by 10% or more"
At least 90% of the companies
operating today have opportunities to increase their bottom lines by 10% or
more. Essential business planning and the proper execution of supply
chain solutions are the keys to unlocking this potential. This
presentation focuses on how to increase your net profit 10% by maximizing your
supply chain.
Many companies have been disillusioned by the claims from supply chain gurus
who sell the benefits of Lean, Six Sigma, and other improvement ideas but
forget to properly explain the road map to get there. All companies will
be able to make some improvements towards streamlining supply chains by
utilizing those tools (like 5S, Kaizen, Process Mapping, etc...) that apply to
their business. Therefore, it is critical to completely understand your
business to determine where opportunities may exist.
You must evaluate:
* Where your business is?
* Where your business could be?
* How to drive the business in the desired direction?
* What tools are needed to be successful on that journey?
This presentation will help you answer those questions by looking at proven
methods for uncovering opportunities in most businesses. We will also
discuss three main areas of business: Demand Planning, Supply
Planning, and Execution. Participants should be able to identify key
issues and visualize an action plan to address them.
