MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT:

Welcome back to new program year.  The Board of Directors has put together some very good speakers for our PDM‘s this year. Including Steve Cassady, from Kohler, who will address us at our September PDM.  Plans are also being finalized to have Thomas Krupka, APICS International President speak to us at one of our PDM’s.  I look forward to very exciting year full of opportunities, with a few challenges thrown in to keep us on our toes, but I really find it hard to believe that summer is almost over already.

For those of you seeking your CPIM, please consider attending the Review Sessions that we offer.  They are held at Bemis Plant N, and a complete schedule appears in this newsletter.  You should be thinking of registering now, as the first class begins on September 23rd.  Please contact me at the phone or email provided in this newsletter to register or to ask any questions you might have.

Among our challenges/and opportunities is that of finding people interested in “Making a Difference” in our chapter by serving on the Board of Directors.  We currently have several openings including a need for someone who would be willing to serve as President next year after a year of “getting their feet wet” as Executive Vice President. Please contact any current Board member to inquire about the openings, or to make arrangements to attend our next BOD meeting at LTC on September 6th to learn more about what is involved.

For those of you interested in going to the International Conference in New Orleans in October, the deadline is fast approaching.  The Conference is a great educational and networking opportunity, and also provides a significant number of points towards re-certification.  They will be rolling out their new certification the CSCP Certified Supply Chain Professional at the Conference.  At a recent Leadership Institute President Thomas Krupka shared that the new certification IS NOT intended to take the place of either the CPPIM or CIRM, and that it’s focus, while touching on some of the same topics, is broader and in more depth in other areas.

I look forward to serving as your President again, and to a successful year of interesting and educational PDM’s, as well as a successful CPIM review program.  I also look forward to taking advantage of the great networking opportunities all of our events provide.  I hope to see many of you at our first PDM on Thursday September 15th at Millhome Suppler Club, in Millhome.

Bruce Balthazor, CPIM, C.P.M.
