·         Board of Directors 2005-2006

Message from the President:

A big thank you goes out to Carolyn Johnson, Stacy Backhaus and the rest of the students who either worked on or attended the outstanding PDM they put on for us in November at Butch’s in St. Nazianz. It was very interesting and informative to learn about the Logistics and Supply Chain processes at Children’s Hospital. Our speakers, Dick Dooley and Shawn Owens, braved the early season snowfall to make the trip from Milwaukee to address us. We truly appreciate their efforts.  All who attended were most attentive to their presentation and had lots of excellent questions after they finished.

Our January PDM should also prove to be quite interesting, as Ben Milbrath of Kohler will present “Inventory Control and Quality-Jeopardy”.  Please make plans to join us as we meet in Manitowoc at the Silver Valley Supper Club.  See the PDM section of the newsletter for all of the details including directions.

As I write this we are in the middle of the holiday season. Christmas is over and Hanukah is in progress now, as are other holiday celebrations around the world. The year is coming to an end, and within a week the New Year will be upon us. Many make New Year’s resolutions, usually around something physical, (get in shape, lose weight), or financial (be more financially responsible, save more, reduce debt). However, I would suggest that we make a Resolution to improve and update our skills to remain competitive in the tough marketplace (particularly in manufacturing) we are in. Continuous Improvement is something we hear about frequently, but do not always apply to ourselves. In the New Year consider getting or renewing CPIM certification; take the CPIM classes; learn about and prepare for the CSCP certification; take a seminar (There are many offered by a number of organizations, including the APICS Webinars.). Subscribing to  APICS e-News will provide useful professional information that can be quite helpful in your professional life. As we enter into 2006 please consider how you could add more value to yourself and your organization.

A Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year to all. I look forward to seeing many of you at the January PDM, or at one of our other programs in 2006.

Bruce Balthazor, CPIM, C.P.M.
