MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT:

Our program year continues to be successful. Our tour of Spancrete, presentation from Plant manager Brett Evanson and dinner location of the Edgewood Pub and Grille were well received and attendance was good. Brett did an excellent job of presenting information on the company’s history, its products and the growing pains associated with the move to the new facility. He also did a superb job of fielding numerous questions on processes and products that were posed by a very attentive audience. A big thank you goes out to Brett, Spancrete and all who aided with the tour. They provided us with a very informative and interesting evening.

November’s meeting is shaping up to be another great event. Our featured speaker will be Tom Krupka, CFPIM, Jonah, who was APICS International president in 2005. I’ve heard him speak before and he has an engaging style, coupled with a topic that is important to all of us.  He will be speaking about China and the Future of Manufacturing. Once again, we will also be trying a new dinner venue, Brisco County Wood Grill on the Sheboygan riverfront. It should prove to be an enlightening and entertaining evening. Please mark your calendars to join us on the 15th of November.

Our next CPIM review class “Master Planning of Resources” begins on Thursday November 2nd. We have a larger group than we did for the Basics class, but can still accommodate several more participants. If interested in participating, please contact Linda Tryba at Kohler Co, as I will be out next week attending the International Conference.

This month’s certification maintenance point’s tip has a dual purpose. Did you know that you could get points for serving on the Shoreline Board of Directors? Yes, 2 or 3 points annually depending on position, and it just so happens that we have several opportunities available on our Board right now. As I’ve said in the past, there a number of very good reasons to serve on the Board, not the least of which are a chance to grow professionally and make a difference in out Chapter offerings. If at all interested, please attend our next board meeting on Tuesday November 7th.

For APICS news, there are two webinars coming in November. On the 8th, at 2p.m. is “Assessing you against Class A criteria”.  On the 15th is ”Making Better Use of Your Forecasts to Manage Inventories”.  Information and registration are available on the APICS website, apicsmeetings.webex.com.

II hope all are having a great fall (it is fall isn’t it-seems more like winter). Anyway, please make plans to join us on the 15th. You will not be disappointed with educational content, and excellent opportunity to network with your peers.
