HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!
The year continues to fly by as Thanksgiving has come and
gone already. I certainly hope that all of you had a Happy Thanksgiving and
were able to spend some quality time with family and friends.
Our program year continues to be very successful. Over 40
people attended our November PDM. That is an excellent turnout for a chapter of
our size (chapters with significantly higher membership struggle to get that
many people to their meetings). It is a tribute to our membership and their
desire to learn and grow professionally that we attract so many people to our PDM’s. Also a significant contributor to that success has
been a very strong slate of speakers and topics for our PDM’s,
thanks to the efforts of Ruth Zimmermann our Programs Chair. Last month we had
a very spirited presentation by Past APICS International President (and Wisconsin
Native) Tomas Krupka entitled “China and the Future
of Manufacturing” We also, once again tried a new meeting location in Briscoe
County Grill in Sheboygan. From the feedback we received from the survey, most
responded favorably regarding the location, and of course, the speaker and
topic were well received.
We will not have a PDM in December (our standard schedule
for the month), but we will be back in January on the 11th at the
Silver Valley Supper Club. There will be more on the speaker and topic in our
next newsletter. Our next CPIM review class will also begin in January.
Detailed Scheduling and Planning will begin on the 18th (a
Thursday), and we have openings available, but not many. In December APICS
International is sponsoring a webinar entitled “ERP
Optimization for Lean Manufacturing Success” More information on this and their
Call for Presentations for the 2007 International Conference can be found on
their website apics.org.
As we bring 2006 to a close and look forward to the
challenges and opportunities of 2007 I wish to thank all of you; the Board of
Directors; and our CPIM Review Class Instructors for success of our chapter. As
we seek to continually improve our offerings, we look to you to provide
feedback on topics and speakers that are of interest to you.
In closing, I wish all a very safe and Happy Holiday Season,
and hope that the New Year brings you health, happiness, and prosperity.
