MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT:

Fellow APICS Members

Welcome to the 2007-2008-program year.  I hope that you all have had a wondrous and enjoyable summer. This year promises to be exciting and challenging all around with new opportunities abounding.

Please welcome our new board members for this year.  Dave Wargin, Joy Thiers and Alice Ward have all joined our already experienced board and should provide new insights and give existing board members opportunity to explore other roles and provide even more value to our chapter.

The President’s role is going to be a challenge for the next few years as I have signed on to a project for Manitowoc Cranes that will take up a lot of my time and take me to the far reaches of the galaxy. Well, maybe just this planet.  Manitowoc Cranes is going to be implementing a new ERP system that will link together the 21 different business units of the Manitowoc Crane Group.  These business units are located in 23 different countries speaking 13 different languages and currently using 26 different business systems.  The scope includes 11 manufacturing plants employing over 5,000 people, over 100 different crane models and nearly 2 million parts.  While technology will allow me to be in communication with the board members, I will be out of the country or out of the state for most if not all of our meetings. On the other hand I hope to bring some very useful insights to the chapter regarding an implementation of this magnitude.

Fortunately our past President, Bruce Balthazor has generously agreed to help carry the ball and serve as Co-President for an undetermined time period in addition to his position as VP Certification and Education.

All in all it promises to be a very good year with many excellent speakers and PDM locations. Please check out the schedule and mark your calendars.

Thank you all for your continued support of the Shoreline Chapter of APICS.  We look forward to bringing you the best speakers, tools, and information that we can offer to help you continue to grow in the field of operations management.

Sincerely,

James Prellwitz, CPIM

President: Shoreline-APICS
