Board of Directors 2007/2008
Our program year continues to be successful. Our tour of the
Kohler Engine Plant and dinner location at Blackwolf Run were well received and
attendance was excellent with nearly 60 members participating.
Our next
CPIM review class “Master Planning of Resources” begins on Thursday November
1st and will run through December 6th.
Our chapter is always looking for instructors to help with our classes. Instructors should be APICS certified in the
subject material. This is a great way to
network with industries that are actively encouraging the best and brightest
people in operations management.
The Board
of Directors meets on the first Tuesday of every month at Lakeshore Technical
College at 6:00 PM. All members are
welcome to attend any board meeting, especially those interested in serving on
the board. Our next
board meeting is on November 6th.
As always,
if you are interested in advancing your personal and professional goals, I
encourage you to become involved in your Shoreline APICS Chapter. It is a great
way to network and take control of your career, rather than sit back and hope
your career goals will some day be realized.
I have been kept very busy with the Manitowoc Crane Group
SAP project and have just returned
from a three-week stint at the Manitowoc Potain facility in Ecully,
France. After the July Kick off in
France, I spent the last three months shuttling between the Crane Group facilities
in Ecully, France and Shady Grove, Pennsylvania. Our project is
currently in the final stages of the blueprint phase, gathering additional
process and system requirements. As a
result of this phase, we have determined how SAP will support the Manitowoc
Crane Group’s daily operations, defined globally standardized processes in
order to support the operations, and identified the business benefits of
utilizing these processes in accordance with the new system.
In the coming months, my team will be working in conjunction
with executives, subject matter experts, and local representatives to determine
the SAP solution detail design and ensuring it meets the needs of the
Manitowoc Crane Group, its customers, and suppliers.
I am very excited with the progress made thus far and am
looking forward to the benefits and opportunities the project is anticipated to
provide.
I hope you are all are having a great fall. Please make
plans to join us at the next PDM on November 13th at City Streets in Sheboygan.
You will not be disappointed with the educational content and excellent
opportunity to network with your peers.

Shoreline Chapter Nov 13th PDM Food Drive Donation to the Salvation Army Manitowoc/Sheboygan.
Please show
your generosity and bring either canned or boxed food items with you to the Nov
PDM. The total collected will be equally divided between the Manitowoc and
Sheboygan County Salvation Army locations. In speaking with a Salvation Army
representative, the items most in need are:
Peanut
Butter
Soup- NOT
TOMATO
Canned
vegetables
Canned
fruit
Cereal
Canned
meats
Boxed
Dinners
Crackers-
this is an item that the Salvation Army does not normally purchase due to the
high cost. This makes snack-type crackers in highly appreciated for the holiday
season.
Personal
hygiene items; soap, shampoo
Cash
donations are also accepted.
Each person
donating will be included in a $25 cash drawing to be held the evening of the
PDM.
Donate 1
item = 1 ticket
Donate more
than 1 item = 2 tickets
The
Shoreline Chapter will be recognized for this donation in the local newspapers.
Most
importantly though is the spirit of giving and sharing. Donations will go to
help not only low-income families, but also families who are in situations of
lay-offs and job loss due to companies downsizing.
The Shoreline BOD thanks you, in advance, for your
generosity.
