Shoreline Board of Directors 2008/2009
October is
nearly over and the holiday season is on its way. We had great attendance at our tour of Windmill
Products and the dinner at The Bull. I
want to thank Windmill Products for sharing their facility with us. A big thank you goes to Tim Keenan for
sharing their lean journey with us, also.
We look forward to another great evening at City Streets Riverside on
November 11th. Please bring a
food item for the food drive taking place at the PDM.

Topic:
Sales and Operations Planning Implementation at Fiskars
Brands, Gardening Division: The Essence of Sales and
Operations Planning is decision making regarding customer service goals,
sales volumes, production rates, level of finished goods, and customer backlog.
S&OP is a cross functional
process. It consists of Sales, Marketing, Operations, Finance and Product
Development working together to develop an integrated set of plans that all
departments can support. Their recommendations are presented to the Executive
S&OP team for their approval or decision to modify the
recommendations.
Tonight we will take a journey to review the development,
implementation and execution of the Sales and Operations Planning process as it
evolved at Fiskars Brands, Gardening Division. The
process has been in place for less than a year, still a work in progress as
we make improvements and adjustments as
needed. We will share some of the
challenges in getting started, roadblocks we encountered during implementation,
what worked for us and what did not work so well. We will review the flow chart of the process
and share documents used during one complete S&OP monthly cycle.
