To our readers:

President’s Message

October is nearly over and the holiday season is on its way.  We had great attendance at our tour of Windmill Products and the dinner at The Bull.  I want to thank Windmill Products for sharing their facility with us.  A big thank you goes to Tim Keenan for sharing their lean journey with us, also.  We look forward to another great evening at City Streets Riverside on November 11th.  Please bring a food item for the food drive taking place at the PDM.

Take a brisk walk along the lake on November 1st as we clean the road north of Cleveland.  It is a great time of fellowship and a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the fall weather.  For more details see the newsletter article below.

We are looking for individuals to join the Board.  Our Board Meeting is held the first Tuesday of every month at LTC.  The time is 6:00 and dinner is provided.  We are looking for a Vice-President and Historian.  Come join us and see how much fun it is!

Kathy currently assists the Madison Chapter in their education program, as an instructor for the CPIM review classes.  She is also a member of Great Lakes District Staff, serving as Assistant Vice President.

Topic: Sales and Operations Planning Implementation at Fiskars Brands, Gardening Division: The Essence of Sales and Operations Planning is decision making regarding customer service goals, sales volumes, production rates, level of finished goods, and customer backlog.

S&OP is a cross functional process. It consists of Sales, Marketing, Operations, Finance and Product Development working together to develop an integrated set of plans that all departments can support. Their recommendations are presented to the Executive S&OP team for their approval or decision to modify the recommendations.

Tonight we will take a journey to review the development, implementation and execution of the Sales and Operations Planning process as it evolved at Fiskars Brands, Gardening Division. The process has been in place for less than a year, still a work in progress as we   make improvements and adjustments as needed.  We will share some of the challenges in getting started, roadblocks we encountered during implementation, what worked for us and what did not work so well.   We will review the flow chart of the process and share documents used during one complete S&OP monthly cycle.

Shoreline Chapter Nov 11 PDM Food Drive Donation to the Salvation Army Manitowoc/Sheboygan.

Please show your generosity and bring either canned or boxed food items with you to the Nov PDM. The total collected will be equally divided between the Manitowoc and Sheboygan County Salvation Army locations. In speaking with a Salvation Army representative, the items most in need are:

Peanut Butter

Soup- NOT TOMATO

Canned vegetables

Canned fruit

Cereal

Canned meats

Boxed Dinners

Crackers- this is an item that the Salvation Army does not normally purchase due to the high cost. This makes snack-type crackers in highly appreciated for the holiday season.

Personal hygiene items; soap, shampoo

Cash donations are also accepted.

Each person donating will be included in a $25 cash drawing to be held the evening of the PDM.

Donate 1 item = 1 ticket

Donate more than 1 item = 2 tickets

The Shoreline Chapter will be recognized for this donation in the local newspapers.  Most importantly though is the spirit of giving and sharing. Donations will go to help not only low-income families, but also families who are in situations of lay-offs and job loss due to companies downsizing.

The Shoreline BOD thanks you, in advance, for your generosity.
