To our Readers: President’s Message

Thanks to all for supporting our Student Chapter at the March PDM.  We had a great turn out.  Jim gave a great talk about how to invest in this economy.  Anyone who knows Jim has felt his passion for investing.  Thanks Jim for sharing some terrific ideas with us.

Thanks to our Student Chapter for a job well-done in planning and conducting the meeting.

If you haven’t received your survey, please work with your IT department to be sure you have the opportunity to contribute your ideas.  It only takes about two minutes to fill out.  The Board uses the survey results to plan the activities of the Shoreline Chapter for next year.  Don’t be shy in sharing your ideas.  They are important to us.

Be sure and join us on April 14th for Top Management Night!  This is our last networking opportunity for the 2008 season.

Those members without a current employment might want to check out the link below.  Those of you who are in need of well-trained individuals, be sure and advertise any opening in your companies on this site.

We are excited to welcome Jamie Prange from Amerequip Corporation to our Board.  We look forward to working with Jamie.  If you are interested in contributing ideas to help advance the educational opportunities thru the Shoreline Chapter, please join us for a board meeting held the first Tuesday of every month at LTC.  The time is 6:00 and dinner is provided.  We are looking for a Vice-President of Membership and Historian.  The benefits far out weigh the time commitments involved.

The topic is: Global Business, the Long Haul

The world is clearly in the process of major reorganization.  An imperfect storm is capsizing many vessels we once comfortably sailed.  Oil prices rose under the pressure of increasing global demand against constant supply.  That, along with the generally successful effort to move manufacturing offshore drives unprecedented trade deficits.   Deficit spending, whether governmental or individual, became the norm with debt levels ever rising and refinanced paid off with borrowed money against ever rising home equity.  Snap!  The rope goes tight and home prices collapse with market values.  That's where we are.  What's next?  Nobody has a crystal ball, but underlying principles drive likely results.  In "Global Business, the Long Haul", expect insights into what has happened and what trends are likely to emerge in the future.

Certification Maintenance

Effective January 15, 2009, the Certification Department fax number will change to 773-639-3171.

The APICS Certification Maintenance Program is available to keep APICS CPIM, APICS CFPIM, and APICS CSCP designees at the top of their game. The program incorporates a variety of professional development opportunities for APICS certification designees to stay current and continue reaping the benefits of the APICS community.

Maintaining your APICS certification through professional development points
The APICS Certification Maintenance Program uses professional development points as a simple way for you to keep track of your APICS certification maintenance activities. Once you earn your APICS certification, most operations management-related activities will help you earn points toward maintaining that certification.

APICS CPIM and APICS CSCP designees must earn a total of 75 professional development points within five years of receiving their designation. APICS CFPIM designees must earn a total of 100 professional development points in the same span of time.

Activities that help you earn APICS Certification Maintenance Points

Other helpful downloads—You will have to submit the Certification Maintenance Application and the Professional Development Journal, which are also included in your APICS certification maintenance bulletin, and processing fee within five years of receiving your APICS certification.
