our Readers: President’s Message
The
2008-2009 year was a terrific one. We
were able to secure some great speakers who have helped keep us abreast of the
world issues which affect our daily lives.
If these wonderful networking events are to continue, we really need
volunteers to help plan and conduct the meetings. The current Board has a wealth of knowledge,
but new ideas are needed to keep our programs fresh. The more individuals we have on the Board,
the more we can do to continue the APICS mission of education. New officers for the 2009-2010 year have been
elected, see the chart in the newsletter with the
changes. There are still a couple of
open positions for next year, if anyone is interested please contact Linda

Thanks
to everyone who made Top Management Night a great success! Thomas Krupka gave terrific insights into how
world economic growth is affecting our lives.
We
are still looking for a place to hold our CPIM classes next year. Please contact any Board member if you have a
classroom available in the evening.
Please
start making plans for next year if you are interested in obtaining your
CPIM. Having this certification is
definitely a plus if you are looking to advance your career. New graduates in Operations Management who
obtain the CPIM receive at least 15% higher pay than those who do not. We are also looking for someone to teach the
CSCP certification classes.

Certification Maintenance Points for
BOD participation:
At the chapter of APICS or another related national or
international association
• Three points per year as an officer of a governing board (examples:

classes will be held at The Bemis Company Plant N. Sheboygan Falls. The course fees are $250 for APICS members
and $325 for nonmembers, APICS Membership can be applied for through the APICS
web site:www.apics.org. The course fees include participant
guides/workbooks. Checks
for fees should be made out to Shoreline APICS Chapter, and should be sent to PO Box 1351 Manitowoc,
WI 54221-1351prior to the beginning of class. The class sizes are
limited to 20 students.
Note: Sessions may be cancelled should there
not be enough participants.

Instructor Honorariums: We are
currently seeking instructors for the CPIM review courses. The
instructors receive $750 as honorariums for every course and are eligible for 2
certification maintenance points per hour of instruction as outlined in the
maintenance manual. If you are

BOD Meeting Schedule for 2009/2010

The Board of
Directors meets on the first Tuesday of every month at

the 2009/2010-program year
Chapter
Historian – Position consists of assembling the past history and tracking &
charting current history.
If you
are interested in joining the BOD contact Linda Tryba or Deb Gunderson or plan
to attend the next BOD meeting which is the 1st Tuesday of each
month starting in August.
