President’s Message

International conference is underway as this newsletter is being put together.  Our chapter has 4 students and 2 members attending this year.  Our District has more people attending than any other district within the United States; that’s quite an amazing turnout!  Shoreline Chapter is being given special recognition at conference because of our high percentage of certified members and our high percentage of member PDM attendance.  This is a tremendous honor and well deserved by you, our members, who believe that certification and PDM attendance is of value.  Well done!

 

Our upcoming October PDM includes a tour of Manitowoc Crane that promises to be both interesting and educational.  See the PMD calendar below for sign up information.

3:30pm - 5pm

Use Main Office entrance by the flagpole. Please arrive between 3:15-20. There is a shift change at 3:30pm; you'll want to avoid that traffic. Parking will be available in the employee parking lot across the street from the main office. There will be designated parking for APICS guests.

 If you have your own safety glasses, please bring them. Safety glasses will be provided if needed. Ear protection will be provided. No open-toed shoes allowed.

 

PDM- Best Western/Inn on Maritime Bay- Manitowoc

Speaker- Manitowoc Crane personnel will give an overview of Manitowoc Crane history and discuss current manufacturing practices.

The course fees are $250 for APICS members and $325 for nonmembers, APICS Membership can be applied for through the APICS web site:www.apics.org.  The course fees include participant guides/workbooks.  Checks for fees should be made out to Shoreline APICS Chapter, and should be sent to PO Box 1351 Manitowoc, WI 54221-1351prior to the beginning of class.  The class sizes are limited to 20 students.

Note: Sessions may be cancelled should there not be enough participants.

 Instructor Honorariums: We are currently seeking instructors for the CPIM review courses.  The instructors receive $750 as honorariums for every course and are eligible for 2 certification maintenance points per hour of instruction as outlined in the maintenance manual.   If you are interested, please contact the Certification VP Bruce Balthazor brucegbalthazor@DRS-PCT.com.

The Board of Directors meets on the first Tuesday of every month at Lakeshore Technical College at 6:00 PM.   There will be a special meeting of the board, in May, to review the program year and plan for the next year.   All members are welcome to attend any board meeting.
